Russian troops change tactics in Bakhmut direction, using newly formed assault units
Serhiy Cherevatyi, spokesman of the Eastern Grouping of Forces, reported that Russian troops fired more than 200 times at AFU positions in Bakhmut direction in the last 24 hours
He said this live on air of Espreso TV channel.
"Bakhmut remains the main point of Russian attacks. They have concentrated there all artillery and aviation, MLRS. Russian forces changed tactics around Bakhmut. They started to use newly created assault units, which are aimed at offensive actions. Under the cover of terrain and weather, they are trying to approach Ukrainian forward lines, engage in close combat in order to engage Ukrainian Armed Forces units in battle and break through Ukrainian defense lines. We track such enemy groups and strike at them," Cherevaty said.
According to a spokesman of the Eastern Grouping of Forces, fierce battles are also ongoing in the Avdiivka region.
"Russian troops try to break through Ukrainian defense lines, throwing mobilized units into battle. In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian Armed Forces keep the initiative. However, from time to time Russian forces re-equip and try to attack. All their attacks end in heavy losses and their retreat," Cherevatyi emphasized.
