Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported the information.
"The enemy has had the opportunity to prepare over the past year, we can say that there are at least three defense lines from the Zaporizhzhia frontline to the temporarily occupied Melitopol, and in some places even four. As for these structures, they are equipped in different ways: some are made of concrete, and some are made of wood," the mayor emphasized.
Mayor Fedorov said that three weeks ago, the Russian forces started building shelters on the border of the Zaporizhzhia region with Donetsk and Kherson regions.
The fourth fortification is being built on the border between the villages of Myrne and Terpinnia, 5 to 7 kilometers from the temporarily occupied Melitopol.
"Today we see a tendency that they are preparing to defend in our city, and continue to build fortifications on the other side of our city directly on the way from Melitopol to Crimea. They are building several more defense lines near Yakymivka and Henichesk," said Fedorov.
The mayor noted that in recent days Russian troops have been cutting down the Staroberdyanskyi reserve, Melitopol district, and the wood is being transported to the fortifications between Melitopol and Crimea. "They dig out land, so we will bury them there."
On April 2, at least 6 explosions occurred in a locomotive depot in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, where Russian troops had set up a warehouse for repairing equipment and fuel, as well as part of an ammunition storage facility.
Earlier, Fedorov spoke about the construction of three defense lines in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region.
