Russian troops attempted to advance in Avdiivka, Bakhmut, Lyman directions – General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this. 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

• In the Kupyansk direction, 5 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 
• In the Lyman direction, over 30 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 
• In the Bakhmut direction, over 25 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 
• In the Avdiivka direction, more than 6 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 
• In the Maryinka direction, over 6 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 
• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 30 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues their offensive operations in the Melitopol sector, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Russian army launched 2 missile and 39 airstrikes against Ukraine

During the day, the Russian enemy launched 2 missile strikes, 39 airstrikes, and about 72 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.

As a result of successful combat operations, the Air Force destroyed two Kalibr cruise missiles and one Shahed-136/131 attack UAV. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential buildings, schools and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed three Russian artillery pieces

Over the course of the day, Ukrainian aviation launched 10 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions and one strike on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile system.

Missile and artillery units destroyed an anti-aircraft missile system and 3 artillery pieces at enemy firing positions over the day.

• As of the morning of August 25, the Ukrainian army continued to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Melitopol directions.
