Russian troops attack Ukraine in five directions, over 35 combat engagements take place over last day - AFU General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in a morning report on July 13.

Russian troops attack in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, and heavy fighting continues. Over 35 combat engagements took place there over the last day.

Russian troops launch 60 air strikes and 64 MLRS attacks at the positions of the Ukrainian  Defense Forces and populated areas

Over the past day, Russian occupying forces attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed drones. A total of 15 “kamikaze” drones were launched. As a result of the successful combat work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, 11 attack UAVs were destroyed. 

In total, Russia launched over 60 air strikes and 64 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. There are dead and wounded civilians, including children, and residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed.

The threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

The situation in different regions of Ukraine

On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. There are no signs of offensive groups being formed. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian troops maintain military presence. 

They launched mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 10 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defense line.

Russian troops carried out an air strike near Kyslivka, Kharkiv region, and shelled 6 settlements across the Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Novoselivske, Luhansk region.

Furthermore, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 4 settlements and shelled over 15 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 settlements and shelled over 15 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defense forces hold back the Russian offensive near Avdiivka and Keramik, Donetsk region, under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery. 

Meanwhile, Russian troops  launched an air strike near Panteleimonivka, Donetsk region,  shelled over 15 settlements with artillery. 

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near the town of Marinka. 

Russian troops launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region, and shelled over 15 more settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.

Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 settlements and shelled 6 other settlements. 

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian forces’ priority is preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops.

Russian troops shelled over 20 settlements across Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions, inflicting artillery fire, and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit a command post and 16 artillery pieces at Russian firing positions

Thus, over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 6 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and 4 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 1 control center, 16 artillery pieces at firing positions, 4 anti-aircraft missile systems and 2 electronic warfare stations.

• Earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive continues in the Bakhmut direction on the southern flank around Bakhmut. There is progress, Ukrainian defenders are consolidating their positions.
