Russian subversive reconnaissance groups make unsuccessful attempts to cross northern border of Ukraine – General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared the information in their evening report on July 4.

Drunk Russian soldiers abuse and rob civilians in Donetsk region

It is reported that an enemy unit has been spotted in the temporarily occupied village of Maloyanysol in Donetsk region.

"Russian soldiers almost constantly drink alcohol and while drunk abuse civilians, beat them, and loot their property," the General Staff wrote.

Ukraine’s missile and artillery units target 18 Russian artillery systems and 2 Russian electronic warfare stations over the past day

These units also hit the area of concentration of Russian manpower, weapons and military equipment, 3 ammunition depots and 3 air defence facilities.

In turn, the aviation of the Ukrainian defence forces carried out 13 strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, 3 on anti-aircraft missile systems, and 1 on the enemy control centre.

Russian forces launched 50 MLRS attacks and carried out 35 air strikes on the territory of Ukraine

As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilians were injured, residential buildings, commercial and administrative buildings, as well as private vehicles were damaged.

The Russian forces are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, heavy fighting continues. 

There were 30 combat engagements over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus the situation remained unchanged. There are no signs of offensive groups forming.

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions:

The Russian Federation continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 15 settlements in the Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

• In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian enemy tried to advance in the area south of Novoselivske in Luhansk region. Ukrainian soldiers held the defence and repelled all enemy attacks. Seven settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
• In the Lyman direction, the Russian army, with the support of aviation, attempted to force Ukrainian troops out of their positions in the area west of Novovodiane and south of Dibrova in the Luhansk region, but failed. More than 10 settlements came under artillery fire. 
• In the Bakhmut direction, under heavy fire from Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Donetsk region. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue their offensive to the south and north of Bakhmut and consolidate their positions. More than 15 localities suffered from Russian artillery shelling. 
• In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive near Avdiivka in Donetsk region. At the same time, the Russian troops attacked more than 10 localities with artillery. 
• In the Marinka direction, under hostile artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the area of Marinka. The Russian forces fired at more than 10 localities. 
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian army launched an airstrike near Vuhledar, Donetsk region. Russian forces shelled more than 15 localities. 
• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the occupying Russian army is focusing its main efforts on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops. Russia launched an airstrike in the area of Rivne in Zaporizhzhia region. Moreover, Russian forces shelled more than 30 towns and villages. 

On the afternoon of 4 July, the invading Russian army shelled Pervomaisky in the Kharkiv region, injuring over 43 people, including 12 children.
