Russian Storm Z units clear mined gray zone in the Kupiansk direction with their bodies, says platoon commander Fedorenko
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles UAV Strike Company of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, has stated that for over two weeks, the enemy’s Storm Z units have been attempting to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
He made these remarks in an interview on the Espreso TV channel.
"Two weeks ago, the Russian forces resumed offensive actions in the Kupiansk direction. Russian troops are storming with units from Storm Z, which include Russia’s former convicts or persons with criminal records. The main task set by the Russian occupation forces for them is to advance as close as possible to the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. These are the units that clear the gray zone, which is mined," emphasized Fedorenko.
According to the platoon commander, when the Ukrainian Defense Forces launch an offensive, engineers and sappers with technical means conduct demining operations. Then, under the cover of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ armored vehicles, they approach Russian troops and establish a foothold by eliminating the enemy.
"For the Russians, it's different. They rely solely on human resources. In a short section of the front, within a few days, the enemy can lose over 100 personnel from the Storm Z assault group. This is normal practice for them. They do not evacuate their wounded from the battlefield, so their initially wounded personnel become dead. The enemy employed such tactics in the Bakhmut direction in the past," explained Fedorenko.
- Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost 222,000 soldiers, 3,920 artillery systems, and 3,428 UAVs in Ukraine.
