Russian spy with Ukrainian citizenship detained in Poland
The Polish Internal Security Agency has detained another member of a spy network working for Russian intelligence. The detained person is a Ukrainian citizen
Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński reported the information.
According to him, the detainee was monitoring military installations and seaports in Poland, and systematically received money from Russian sources.
This latest detainee marks the 15th individual implicated in the spy network believed to be working on behalf of Russia.
The National Prosecutor's Office of Poland added that a member of the spy network was a citizen of Ukraine who had been living in the country since 2019.
"During the investigation, it was found that the suspect carried out activities that consisted, in particular, of reconnaissance of critical infrastructure facilities, including military facilities and seaports. He informed his customers about the results of the reconnaissance and received a reward for it," the statement said.
The man is currently in custody and is accused of participating in an organized criminal group and working for foreign intelligence against the interests of Poland. The detainee faces up to 10 years in prison.
