Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov called for capturing Odesa and Mykolaiv in order to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea and prevent strikes on the Crimean bridge

"Due to the incident on the Crimean bridge, which was apparently targeted by naval drones, Ukraine should be completely separated from the Black Sea to prevent recurring threats to Crimea," the senator said.
"Odesa and Mykolaiv should once again be part of Russia," Dzhabarov added, echoing a common theme in Russian propaganda regarding the "originally Russian" territories in Ukraine.

On July 17, there were explosions on the Crimean Bridge, leading the occupying authorities to declare it an "emergency event" and accuse the Ukrainian military of the attack. Damage to the road surface was discovered on the bridge spans.
