The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Artiukh said that attacks by sabotage and reconnaissance groups have intensified in the region: they kill people and destroy infrastructure

He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to Artiukh, over the past two months, shelling of the region and attacks by subversive groups have intensified.

"Enemy infiltrates our territory, conducts such attacks all the time and along the entire length of the border, and we have a border with Russia that is over 560 kilometers long. Russian subversive groups are destroying people, infrastructure, and fighting the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It should be noted that 4-5 months ago such actions were not so intense. Now they have become systemic," said the head of the Regional Military Administration.

He noted that similar tactics of the invaders are observed in the Chernihiv region.

"This suggests that Russian units have entered our section of the frontline - the enemy is constantly rotating. And now they are acting like this: 5-10 people enter our territory, they blow up and kill. These are special forces. They are fulfilling their tasks of killing people and destroying infrastructure," said Artiukh.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration believes that the Russians are not only seeking to destroy the Ukrainian military, but they also aim to influence the moral and psychological state of both civilians and the military. They want Ukrainians to not feel safe. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are doing everything possible to ensure that the Russian enemy does not achieve any of its goals.

  • On December 3, State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko said that Russia had begun to use sabotage and reconnaissance groups more actively near the border with the Kharkiv region.
