Russian occupiers mine rivers in Kherson region, AFU repelled over 60 attacks - General Staff report

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the updates in a morning briefing on April 19.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, Russian occupiers continue to mine the territory, building up their defense capabilities. 

The waters of the Konka and Dnipro rivers are also mined. There have been cases of local residents being blown up by enemy mines while trying to get to the water.

Enemy advances in 4 directions, Ukrainian Armed Forces repel 60 attacks 

The Russian army concentrates on offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. 

The most fierce battles are for the towns of Bakhmut and Marinka.

Over the past day, Ukrainian defense forces repelled more than 60 Russian attacks in these areas.

Russia launched 4 missile and 60 air strikes on Ukraine over the past day

On April 18, the Russian forces launched 4 missile strikes and 60 air strikes, fired 58 times from multiple launch rocket systems injuring civilians.

Situation in the following sectors

The operational situation on the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains unchanged.

Over the past day, the Russian occupiers fired at 1 locality in Chernihiv region, 6 in Sumy region, and 7 in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, 6 localities in the Kharkiv region came under hostile fire last day.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy tried to improve the tactical situation and unsuccessfully attacked the area near the village of Dibrova. 

Four localities in the Luhansk region and three in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Russian army continues offensives and fighting for the town of Bakhmut. 

However, Ukrainian defenders repulsed the enemy's attack in the direction of Stupochky.

12 localities in the Donetsk region suffered from the hostile shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army carried out unsuccessful offensives in the area of 6 localities.  They opened fire on 5 localities in the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled numerous attacks in the area of Marinka, Donetsk region, over the past day.  Four localities were subjected to hostile attacks.

In the Vuhledar direction, the Russian invaders unsuccessfully attacked the Prechystivka area over the past day. 

They stormed 4 localities in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops remain on the defensive. 

At the same time, they assaulted settlements near the frontline during the day, causing civilian casualties. Among them - 1 locality in Donetsk region; 8 in Zaporizhzhia region; 1 in Kherson region and the city of Kherson. 

Defense Forces shot down 10 drones and hit an important occupiers' military facility

Over the past day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out 11 strikes on the areas of Russian personnel concentration and 2 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems. 

In addition, 2 reconnaissance UAVs (Orlan-10 and Superkam) and 8 attack UAVs (7 Shahed-136 and 1 Lancet) were shot down.

In turn, missile and artillery units struck three areas of manpower concentration, an electronic warfare station and another important Russian military facility.

• Earlier, Ukrainian marines destroyed an anti-tank missile system and 10 Russian solsiers.
