The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on May 26.

According to the report, several dozen Russian troops arrived in the temporarily captured Novopetrykivka, Donetsk region, to carry out so-called 'counter-sabotage measures.' Invading forces search private houses, seize mobile devices, and illegally take possession of local residents' vehicles.

Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on Russian troops

Over the day, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 8 strikes on Russian manpower and military equipment concentration areas.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit 3 control points, 2 weapons and military equipment concentration areas, 1 munitions depot, 2 artillery units, 1 anti-aircraft defense, as well as 1 more important enemy target.

Frontline situation

On May 26, Russia launched 18 missile strikes on populated areas of the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, using 10 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-based cruise missiles and 8 S-300/S anti-aircraft guided missiles to attack the Dnipro city.

In addition, the enemy carried out 60 airstrikes, in particular, using Iranian strike drones of the Shahed type on the cities of Merefa and Izium of the Kharkiv region, and also used guided aerial bombs on Avdiivka and the village of New York.

At the same time, the Russian army launched about 34 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian settlements and the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilians. Medical facilities in the city of Dnipro, educational institutions in Izium and New York, as well as apartments and private buildings were damaged.

Invading Russian forces are attacking in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. In total, 18 combat clashes took place in the indicated sectors.

The threat of missile and air strikes remains high across Ukraine.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire line of contact: 4 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 8 more in the Sumy region, as well as 15 settlements in the Kharkiv region were attacked.

Shelling of Ukrainian regions

  • In the Kupiansk direction, 10 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk directions came under artillery shelling.

  • In the Lyman direction, 5 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk directions came under Russian fire.

  • In the Bakhmut direction, 13 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces.

  • In the Avdiivka direction, 4 settlements in the Donetsk region came under Russian fire.

  • In the Marinka direction, 2 towns of the Donetsk region were subjected to Russian attacks.

  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, 3 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled.

  • In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, 17 cities and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the Russian army.

On the morning of May 26, the Russian army launched a missile attack on a medical facility in Dnipro. The attack killed three people and injured at least 30.
