On the morning of February 1, the people of Melitopol could see the consequences of the fire in the temporarily occupied city. According to the mayor, the military base of the occupiers was burning:
"Thick smoke was billowing in a part of the city behind the central market in the area of the Refma plant occupied by Russian invaders, which was functioning as their military base," the message said.

Earlier, the National Resistance Center reported that the Russian invaders created squads for spotting and identifying disloyal residents in Melitopol: the occupiers continue to search for members of the Ukrainian underground and everyone associated with them.
