Russian media report damage to key bridge, say chances for repair are slim and alternative crossings vulnerable
Every time Ukraine shells the bridge its condition deteriorates, making it less stable, while alternative crossings would be easy targets for Ukraine's Armed Forces
This is stated by the government's Russian Telegram channel "Voenny osvedomitel".
It emphasizes two problems. The first - the effects of firing on the bridge have a cumulative effect, that is, each subsequent hit causes more damage than the previous one, not only due to new damage, but also due to the weakening of the canvas structure. The second - alternatives in the form of pontoons/ferries are more vulnerable to enemy fire than a capital bridge, and only one GMLRS missile will be enough to disable them.
"We are forced to state that the problem with progressive attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cut off the right-bank group of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from supplies is not being resolved. The bet on air defense did not pay off, and attempts to guide alternative crossings and endless repairs will only postpone the sad end, if no steps are taken to destroy the enemy's firepower", it is noted.
