Russian interests, hybrid aggression take root in Orban's regime - Tuzhanskyi
Dmytro Tuzhanskyi, director of the Institute of Central European Strategy, believes that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is doing everything he can enhance his country's dependence on Russia, not to sever ties
He said this on Espreso TV.
"In order to promote Russian interests and a pro-Russian vision of the situation, Viktor Orban and Hungary today do not need to be agents of Putin or receive a salary from him. The problem is that Hungary's dependence on Russian gas, oil and nuclear fuel is not only a technological dependence, as official Budapest claims, but it is a high level of dependence of the Orban regime on Russian energy sources and money", the director of the Institute of Central European Strategy said.
Dmytro Tuzhanskyi explained that in order to preserve his regime and rating, Viktor Orban simply has to say what he says, he is also forced to promote the interests he promotes, as well as vote against sanctions, because, unfortunately, this is in his political and national interests.
"That is, the key problem is that Russian interests and Russian hybrid aggression are integrated into the Hungarian national interest. And this is the main danger, because Hungary is a country of the EU and NATO, as well as a country of the West, against which Russia is waging an open hybrid war. This is a primary danger not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire West and, in fact, a danger for Hungary itself. Unfortunately, Viktor Orban is doing everything not to get rid of this dependence on Russia, but everything to preserve it", Tuzhanskyi noted.
