An indictment was sent to court against the deputy head of the Rostov region department of the Russian Guard, police colonel Oleksandr Naumenko with the call sign Alpha, who ordered to torture Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied Kherson.
The investigation found that from the first days of the full-scale invasion, Naumenko led the Russian Guard servicemen and representatives of Russian illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied city of Kherson.
"The criminal ordered to detain and torture local residents, pro-Ukrainian citizens, former servicemen and Ukraine’s anti-terrorist operation participants. He was present and directly participated in the dispersal of peaceful rallies in Kherson. Under his instructions, Kherson civilians suffered at the hands of Russian servicemen," the law enforcers explained.
The Russian criminal is involved in kidnapping Ukrainians, torturing them and forcing them to cooperate. He and his subordinates abused civilians and former servicemen to get information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Colonel Naumenko has now been notified of being suspected of violating the laws and customs of war. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
