Operational Command South's press center head Natalia Humeniuk said this on Espreso TV.

"The Russian troops organized defense in depth. They are trying to hold the lines they have equipped, given that the disaster they caused has washed away the first line of defense. Now their firing positions are not protected. The only protection is the civilian population, behind which they are hiding as a human shield," she said.

Humeniuk added that the Russian forces in the flooded area on the upper floors of high-rise buildings deployed machine gun and mortar crews to fire.

"They are also trying to maneuver with the help of boats in order to reconnoiter the intentions of the Defense Forces. Over the last day, 30 servicemen, 3 boats, 3 large-caliber artillery pieces, 2 armored vehicles and 1 reconnaissance drone that flew as far as Snihurivka were destroyed. They are trying to gather information on where to expect more attacks," summarized the head of the press center.

  • On July 2, Russian troops attacked 11 regions of Ukraine, injuring 11 people. The Kherson region was subjected to 85 attacks, 9 of which were on Kherson. Six people were injured in the region.

  • On Monday, July 3, Russians shelled Sumy. The attack damaged an administrative building and two apartment buildings. Two people were killed and 19 were injured.

  • On the morning of July 6, Russian troops opened fire on civilian settlements in the Kherson region, injuring six people.
