Russian forces take loot from Zaporizhzhia region to Crimea, engaging truck drivers — General Staff
The invading Russian forces have been engaging local collaborators to take out the looted property of Ukrainians, enterprises, and state institutions from the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region to Crimea
The AFU General Staff reports about this in the morning briefing on May 9.
According to the report, the Russian occupiers continue to rob Ukrainian citizens, enterprises, and state institutions in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia region. To transport the looted property from the settlements near the battle line, the invaders have been enlisting drivers and truck owners from the local collaborators and directing them towards Crimea.
AFU hit 2 ammunition depots, 3 crucial enemy targets and one reconnaissance drone
On May 8th, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched 16 air strikes targeting enemy personnel and military equipment concentrations.
Missile troops and artillery units also targeted 3 areas with enemy personnel concentrations, 2 ammunition warehouses, and 3 other significant enemy targets.
Furthermore, Ukrainian soldiers successfully destroyed an enemy reconnaissance UAV of the Zala type.
Russians launched 30 missile attacks and 61 air strikes against Ukraine
Last night, Ukrainian officials reported another major missile attack by Russian forces. Information on the aftermath is currently being assessed, according to the General Staff.
Within the past 24 hours, the enemy carried out 30 missile strikes, 61 airstrikes, and launched 89 MLRS attacks against our troops and populated areas, resulting in destruction and damage to private residences and other civilian infrastructure, as well as casualties.
The risk of additional missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high, and air raid signals should not be disregarded.
Intense battles for Bakhmut and Marinka are ongoing, AFU repel 42 attacks
The enemy is still focusing its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions.
Intense fighting is taking place for Bakhmut and Maryinka.
A total of 42 Russian attacks were successfully repelled in the specified areas of the front in the past day.
Situation in different directions
The situation in the northern and northwestern Ukrainian border did not change significantly.
In the northern and north-eastern part of Ukraine, the Russian troops fired mortar and artillery shells at 7 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 6 in the Sumy region, and 10 in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk direction, 11 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire. Russians carried out air strikes on two areas, but did not conduct any offensive.
In the Lyman direction. Artillery attacks were delivered on 2 localities in the Luhansk region and 2 in Donetsk region. Air strikes were launched in 4 areas, as well as one unsuccessful offensive.
The Russian occupation forces continued to attack in the Bakhmut direction with heavy fighting in the city of Bakhmut, the occupiers bombarded the city with incendiary and phosphorus ammunition. They unsuccessfully assaulted 2 localities. As a result, 13 localities in the Donetsk region suffered from hostile shelling, and 3 areas suffered from air strikes.
In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian invaders conducted offensives in 2 areas, with some success. They fired at 8 localities in the Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled attacks in the area of Marinka over the last day. Two other localities in the Donetsk region were also subjected to hostile attacks.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions yesterday. They opened fire at 3 localities in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian troops are on the defensive. They attacked over 30 localities and launched air strikes in 3 areas.
