Russian forces shell border areas of Sumy and Chernihiv regions on January 2: residential buildings, power lines damaged
During January 2, Russians struck at the border areas of Sumy and Chernihiv regions, resulting in damage to power lines and residential buildings
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
It is noted that the occupiers shelled four communities of Sumy region and one community of Chernihiv region.
"The Russian forces opened fire from the directions of the settlements of Volfinske, Rakivka, Novi Yurkovychi, Kolotylovka, Dronovka, Poroz and Zernove," the report says.
They used cannon artillery, mortars and aircraft missiles for shelling. As a result of enemy strikes in one of the communities, a school building, power lines and a car were damaged.
North operational Command adds that two settlements of Koryukivka district in Chernihiv region came under enemy fire.
The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyi also clarifies that around 23:00 on January 2, Russian occupiers fired at Krasnopilska community and Slavhorod settlement from a self-propelled artillery system. Five hits from 120 mm mortars were recorded. Four of them damaged local houses: windows were broken, doors and roofs were damaged.
Also, after 02:00 on January 3, the enemy made two artillery attacks on the Seredina-Buda community. There were 38 hits in total. After 08:00, they opened fire on Shalyhyne community from anti-aircraft mounts.
On the night of January 3, the settlement of Krasnopillya was also shelled. As a result, a power line was damaged.
