Russian forces fire at Vinnytsia with Kinzhal missiles
On August 7, the Russian army used Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, which are among the newest models in the Russian arsenal, to attack Vinnytsia
The Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported about this.
"On August 7, the Russian occupiers used Kh-47M Kinzhal hypersonic air-based missiles against military facilities in the Vinnytsia region. This is the newest type of missiles that Russia has in its arsenal", it is noted.
The Kinzhal missiles were launched from the MiG-31 fighter jet, or the Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The speed of such weapons ranges from 3.5 to more than 12 thousand km/h. Ukrainian air defense is unable to detect and destroy it.
"After launch from the plane, the missile rises to a high altitude in the upper layers of the atmosphere. And when approaching the target along the ballistic trajectory, it can develop a speed of about 12 thousand km/h.
Since February 24, 2022, only a few combat applications of missiles of this type have been recorded, which the enemy is trying to use for extremely important purposes", the press service added.
