Russian forces evict civilians from homes in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on July 17.

The Russian military is moving into the occupied houses, and communications and wired cable Internet in Nova Kakhovka and Kakhovka have been turned off to "prevent the recording and publicizing of the crimes of Russian troops."

The systems were destroyed by missile and artillery units. The Ukrainian military also targeted the Russian manpower concentration area, 22 artillery pieces at firing positions, a munitions depot and an enemy electronic warfare station.

Ukrainian aviation launched 5 strikes on the invading Russian forces' military positions. Within a day, Ukrainian defenders destroyed three Shahed-136 attack UAVs.

In addition, Russia launched 34 airstrikes and over 40 MLRS attacks at the Ukrainian troops' positions and localities.

Invading Russian forces are attacking in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, and heavy fighting continues. There were 29 combat engagements over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, Russia continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

• In the Kupiansk direction, 5 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 
• In the Lyman direction, 6 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under enemy fire. 
• In the Bakhmut direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 
• In the Avdiivka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region were shelled. 
• In the Marinka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under Russian shelling. 
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, 10 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked. 
• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson direction, over 20 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

On July 17, the Russian army shelled the border Sumy region with artillery, killing 2 people and injuring 10 more.
