Russian forces attack Zaporizhzhia overnight, damaging 8 houses and kindergarten
On the night of January 4, invading Russian forces shelled Zaporizhzhia, damaging 8 high-rise buildings, a kindergarten and several cars
Anatolii Kurtiev, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, reported this.
According to his preliminary data, as a result of the attack on Zaporizhzhia on the night of January 4, 8 high-rise buildings were damaged in the city: “the windows were blown out and the balconies were destroyed.”
The building of the kindergarten was also damaged, as the city secretary writes: “the windows were broken and the roof was partially damaged there.”
Earlier, Anatolii Kurtiev informed about a person who received a shrapnel wound. Later, the secretary reported on another victim, namely a woman with minor injuries.
“There is now a huge 40-meter-long sinkhole and mutilated cars standing next to the houses. Thank God that the Russian rocket did not hit the high-rise buildings themselves and all the people are alive,” the secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council wrote.
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office started a pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, which was opened on the basis of violation of the laws and customs of warfare (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
“According to the investigation, on January 3, 2023, around 11:00 pm, military personnel of the aggressor country fired at one of the residential areas of Zaporizhzhia using S-300 air defense systems. According to preliminary data, one person was injured,” the report of the Prosecutor General's Office says.
