
Russian drone, missile attack on Ukraine hits 5 regions, kills one civilian
Over the night and morning of March 12, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using strike drones and a ballistic missile, targeting Kharkiv, Dnipro, the Kyiv region, Sumy, and Kryvyi Rih
Aftermath of Dnipro attack
According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, explosions were heard in Dnipro around 10 p.m. as air defense systems were activated. The attack caused multiple fires, including at an infrastructure facility and a car in a garage. A two-story private house was also partially destroyed.
Preliminary reports indicate that 12 out of 20 Russian-launched drones were shot down in the region.
Lysak later provided updated information, stating that about 10 private houses were damaged, and windows in a kindergarten and a school were shattered.
In the morning, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration said that a 42-year-old man had sought medical help.
“Rescuers have mostly extinguished the fires that broke out in the city. The fire has been localized at one location and is being extinguished,” he added.
Morning missile attack on Kryvyi Rih
At around 7:15 a.m., Ukraine's Air Force reported a ballistic missile threat and warned of a Russian missile fired toward Kryvyi Rih. At the same moment, Suspilne reported explosions in the city.
At 7:37 a.m., the military warned of another high-speed target heading for Kryvyi Rih. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council also mentioned the possibility of repeated attacks. Three minutes later, Suspilne reported further explosions in the city.
At 7:46 a.m., more explosions were heard in Kryvyi Rih. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, confirmed a preliminary report of a wounded individual.
"A hit to an infrastructure facility. A fire broke out," he wrote.
Later, it was confirmed that a 47-year-old woman, who was in a nearby trolleybus at the time of the attack, was killed. Two others were injured: a 41-year-old woman was hospitalized in moderate condition, while a 78-year-old victim received treatment on-site.
The Regional Military Administration later updated the number of injured in Kryvyi Rih to five.
"A 50-year-old man is hospitalized in serious condition, a 42-year-old woman is in moderate condition, and a 47-year-old woman will receive outpatient treatment," Lysak reported.
Strike on Sumy
The acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar, said that a drone hit a warehouse in Sumy. According to preliminary information, no one was killed or injured.
Strike on Kharkiv
At 12:58 a.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov provided preliminary information about the attack on the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. He later clarified that a drone had struck between private houses, damaging several yards. There was no fire.
According to Terekhov, one person experienced an acute stress reaction at the site of the Shahed crash and is receiving medical care on the spot.
Aftermath in the Kyiv region
The State Emergency Service reported that a furniture store in the Fastiv district caught fire due to debris falling from a Russian drone. A private house in the area was also set on fire.
Residential buildings were also damaged in the Obukhiv and Brovary districts.
Rescuers extinguished the fires, and no injuries were reported.
