Russian drone hits school in Sumy region, killing two people
On Wednesday, August 23, the Russian army has attacked a school in Romny, Sumy region, killing at least 2 people and injuring 4 others
Ukraine’s National Police clarified that 4 people were injured. They were near the site of the strike. A search and rescue operation is currently underway.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that at least 2 people were killed in the Russian attack, their bodies were recovered from under the rubble. Three other school employees were injured.
"There is information that 2 more school employees are trapped under the rubble. The search and rescue operation is ongoing," the Ministry added.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration informed about the Russian attack.
It noted that a Russian Shahed UAV hit the school in the town of Romny at 10:05 a.m.
"Unfortunately, the school building is completely destroyed. All services are working at the site. A headquarters for the liquidation of the consequences has been deployed," the statement reads.
