Russian disinfo review: corrupt officials 'sell' Western weapons to Syrian Idlib, Ukraine 'isn't fit' for EU membership
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of Russian disinfo and fake stories as of June 21.
The Center shared the review on its Telegram channel.
Manipulation. The Speaker of the State Duma V. Volodin stated that "Ukraine is by no means suitable for EU membership, (because - Ed.) modern Ukraine is total corruption, rampant crime, oligarchic power and a ruined economy… Europe understands this, but is ready to do everything to weaken Russia and continue hostilities."
Another manipulation from Russia was that the first deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN, D. Polyansky said: "Western weapons transferred to Kyiv are increasingly appearing in Syria Idlib, where they are sold by corrupt Ukrainian officials."
Disinformation. Russia's permanent representative to the EU, V. Chizhov, said that "Western countries might support a sluggish negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, but Kyiv is doing everything possible to prevent such negotiations."
