The Institute for the Study of War reports.
American analysts draw attention to the fact that Shoigu met with Lukashenko on December 3 in Minsk. After negotiations, Belarusian dictator said that his troops continue joint training with Russian Federation so that "allied state can repel any aggression."
ISW assumes that Shoigu flew to Lukashenko to once again put pressure on Belarus to continue supporting Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
In addition, Shoigu met with Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Hrenin and signed amendments to the agreement on joint provision of regional security in the military sphere.
Previously, ISW estimated that Belarus is unlikely to go to war against Ukraine due to internal factors that restrain Lukashenko.
