Russian balloons can carry small bombs - military expert Kyrychevskyi
Defence Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi says the Russian forces are trying to deplete Ukrainian air defense with balloons
He said this on Espreso TV.
“Aerostats have been a regular tool at the disposal of the Russian military since the Cold War. This tool was used by the grandfathers of these occupiers who are now fighting against us. Unfortunately, these balloons can carry not only radar reflectors, they can also carry either reconnaissance equipment or small propaganda bombs,” Kyrychevskyi said.
The military expert also added that the Russians are trying to find out whether balloons can be used to attack civilian and military targets.
“The propaganda bomb is supposed to drop leaflets, but the Russians can attach some small bombs to it. When the Russians realized that their cruise missiles were powerless against our air defense, they tried to lower the threshold by using Shaheds. Our anti-aircraft gunners have already learned how to shoot down them, and now the Russians are trying to test us with these balloons to see if they can use them to attack either civilian or military targets,” Kyrychevskyi explained.
