Russian army concentrates efforts on Donbas, no offensive observed in Zaporizhzhia direction - AFU Colonel Yerin
No combat engagements or preparations for offensives by Russian troops are currently observed in the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian army is concentrating its main efforts on Donbas
Colonel Yevhen Yerin, head of the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Forces, shared the information on the United News national telethon on Monday, January 30.
"As for the Zaporizhzhia direction, no combat engagements have been observed so far. The enemy has focused its main efforts on conducting reconnaissance and launching fire attacks," said Yerin.
According to him, Russia is unlikely to launch an offensive in this area at the moment.
"The forces and means concentrated by the enemy are currently insufficient for a full-scale offensive. Over the past few days, no reinforcement of the enemy grouping in the Zaporizhzhia direction has been observed either," noted Yerin.
He emphasized that Russian troops continue to focus their main efforts on Donetsk and Luhansk directions.
"So far, they (Russian troops - ed.) are fighting the fiercest battles there," he added.

According to ISW analysts, Russian military personnel are likely to gradually replace the exhausted Wagner fighters to continue the offensive on Bakhmut.

Russian troops are advancing at Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Vuhledar directions. However, Ukrainian soldiers continue to repel their attacks and have eliminated about 20 Russian soldiers and destroyed 2 manpower concentrations.

On January 30, Andriy Illienko, an officer with the Freedom battalion of Ukraine’s National Guard, noted that Russian troops were trying to surround Bakhmut from the flanks.
