Russian army attempts to advance in three directions, 38 combat clashes reported – General Staff

On Saturday, 26 August, Russian forces tried to advance in the Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Lyman sectors. There were 38 combat engagements at the frontline

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation remained unchanged.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 25 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk direction, 5 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire. 

In the Lyman direction, over 15 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, over 20 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, more than 6 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

In the Maryinka direction, over 6 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 15 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 25 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues their offensive operations in the Melitopol sector, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Russian army launched 3 missile and 34 airstrikes against Ukraine

During the day, the Russians also fired 34 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Residential buildings, schools and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

Ukrainian Forces target 2 SAMs and hit an area where Russian forces were concentrated

Over the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 2 strikes on control points, 10 strikes on areas of personnel concentration and 2 strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

In addition, missile and artillery units struck 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, an area of concentration of personnel and 4 artillery pieces at enemy firing positions over the past day.

 
  • Over 40 combat engagements took place on the frontline on August 25. The Russian army lost 640 servicemen, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck 12 times at the areas where the Russian military were concentrated.
