Russia uses combined tactics: drones, strategic aviation and 8 Kalibr missiles
On the night of February 16, Russian troops launched a combined attack on Ukraine involving strategic aircraft, drones and missile carriers, launching 8 Kalibr missiles
This was reported by the Operational Command South spokeswoman Natalia Humeniuk during a telethon broadcast.
"That missile carrier that was on duty, we were monitoring it, we knew that it had 8 Kalibr missiles, and all were launched, but the air defense in the southern direction worked perfectly – all 8 Kalibr missiles were intercepted, 6 over the Mykolayiv region, 2 over the Kherson region," she emphasized.
According to Humeniuk, Russia used other methods – it was a mixed attack with the use of drones and strategic aircraft.
"They launched other missiles. They were not recorded in the southern region. But missiles were observed in other regions, one of them hit the Lviv region," she said.
She noted that the enemy's tactics change according to opportunities that are available.
"This just speaks of the use of a combined tactic. Earlier they tried to search for air defense. Our air defense also recorded those mysterious round objects in the southern regions," Humeniuk added.
The military considers a repeated Russian attack possible in the afternoon of February 16.
"It is quite likely (that the shelling will be repeated - ed.), because they are looking for new tactics that will be effective for them. Let's recall the previous massive missile attacks and the ratio of launched and destroyed missiles by air defense forces. It really did not suit the military and political leadership of the country - aggressors," she remarked.
