Russia uses aviation in 4 directions, while AFU repel 60 attacks
Russia is actively using operational-tactical and army aviation in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions. Despite this, Ukraine’s Armed Forces managed to repulse more than 60 attacks and shoot down 4 drones
The AFU General Staff reports this in the morning of April 17.
The enemy is incurring significant losses, yet it persists in attacking the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka areas. Bakhmut and Marinka remain the most intense areas of hostilities.
On April 16, Ukrainian troops thwarted over 60 Russian attacks in these areas of the front.
AFU shoot down 4 drones, hit a command point, an air defense system position, and three Russian warehouses
During the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces have successfully neutralized several Russian targets. Four enemy drones were shot down, including two Orlan-10, one Eleron reconnaissance drone, and one Lancet kamikaze drone. The military launched five airstrikes on Russian personnel positions and an anti-aircraft missile system.
The missile forces and artillery units hit the Russian command point, an anti-aircraft missile system, a personnel position, a fuel warehouse, and two ammunition warehouses.
Russia launches 25 missile strikes, 42 airstrikes, and 46 MLRS attacks
On April 16th, Russia launched a total of 42 airstrikes and 25 missile strikes from the S-300 air defense system on the peaceful cities of Zaporizhzhia, Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Snihurivka in the Mykolaiv region.
Additionally, the enemy carried out 46 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure, resulting in deaths and injuries among civilians, destruction of high-rise and private residential buildings, damage to civilian educational institutions, hospitals, and churches.
Russia is resorting to terror tactics, and the probability of launching strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.
Situation in the following sectors
The operational situation on the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains unchanged, and no signs of enemy offensive groups have been detected. Belarus is preparing for the combat readiness check of their troops.
Over the past day, the Russian enemy attacked 10 settlements in the Sumy region, and 8 in the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk direction, 4 localities in the Kharkiv region came under hostile fire.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders carried out unsuccessful offensives near Spirne and Hryhorivka over the past day. Six localities in the Luhansk region and Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
The Russian occupying forces continue their offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction. Heavy fighting is ongoing for the town of Bakhmut. The Russian troops conducted unsuccessful attacks in the area of Khromove and Ivanivske. The enemy shelling affected 10 localities in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army carried out unsuccessful offensives in five directions, firing artillery at more than 15 localities in Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the vicinity of Marinka over the past day. Six localities in the Donetsk region came under Russian fire.
In the Shakhtarsk (Vuhledar) direction, the Russian army did not initiate any offensive actions. They assaulted 5 localities in the Donetsk region.
Russia is still on the defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Russian forces shelled over 40 settlements near the frontline.
