Zelenskyy: Ukraine and three countries discuss Black Sea security in Turkey
Negotiations between Ukraine and delegations from Turkey, the UK, and France are currently taking place in Ankara regarding security in the Black Sea, specifically discussing the presence of foreign military forces
This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Odesa.
The Ukrainian leader believes that Turkey could play a significant role in future security guarantees in the Black Sea.
“It’s not about ending the war, unfortunately. It’s about what happens after a ceasefire. Part of these security guarantees includes the presence of military contingents. The question of the presence of these troops in the Black Sea is being discussed right now. And this is very important for everyone — for Odesa, for Mykolaiv, and for all our cities located on the Black Sea,” said Zelenskyy.
At the same time, during the negotiations, the countries are discussing the presence of foreign troops to ensure security in the Black Sea waters.
- On April 13, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that on April 15-16, a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations would take place in Ankara to discuss Black Sea security issues.
- However, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied this information.
