According to the bill card on the Verkhovna Rada website, President Zelenskyy has proposed extending martial law and mobilization from May 9 to August 6.
If approved, this would mark the 15th extension since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022.
- On March 12, President Zelenskyy stated that elections in Ukraine would be held once the war concludes and martial law is lifted. The Central Election Commission (CEC) emphasized that at least six months must pass after martial law is lifted before elections can take place.
- In addition, the CEC is proposing amendments to the law to establish additional polling stations outside embassies and consulates, enabling millions of Ukrainians abroad to participate in the upcoming elections.
