Zelenskyy says war is "closer to the end," Kremlin responds
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia's war against Ukraine is "closer to the end" than many realize, urging allies to bolster the Ukrainian military
He said this in an interview with ABC news.
"The plan of victory is strengthening of Ukraine. That's why we're asking our friends, our allies, to strengthen us. It's very important. I think that we are closer to the peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war," the Ukrainian leader stressed.
Zelenskyy is convinced that only from a "strong position" can Ukraine "push Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to end the war."
Kremlin's response
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the war "will be over as soon as Russia's goals are achieved," the Russian news agency Interfax reports.
"You know that any war ends in peace one way or another. But for us, there is absolutely no alternative to achieving our goals. As soon as these goals are achieved in one way or another, the ‘special military operation’ will be completed," Peskov said.
