
Zelenskyy meets with Czech PM and defense industry leaders: nuclear generation discussed
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Prague with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, representatives of the Czech Parliament, and leaders of the country's major defense companies. The discussions focused on defense industry cooperation, energy, and nuclear generation
Zelenskyy reported on Telegram that during the meetings, topics such as supporting Ukraine and peace were discussed. Zelenskyy noted that the situation on the battlefield proves that Russia does not want a long-lasting silence that could open the way for diplomacy.
The officials also discussed sanctions and Ukraine’s future in the European Union.
"We rely on strengthening sanctions against Russia and the opening of the first clusters in Ukraine's EU membership negotiations. Thank you to the Czech Parliament and all political forces for supporting our country from the first days of the full-scale war. Thank you for supporting our NATO and EU movement," Zelenskyy emphasized.
During a meeting with the leaders of the Czech Republic’s leading defense companies, Zelenskyy discussed cooperation in the defense industry, Ukrainian-Czech collaboration, and joint production could guarantee security and prevent the recurrence of aggression on the European continent.
"Thank you for trusting Ukraine and implementing joint projects. We appreciate Czech companies' participation in the initiative to supply 155mm ammunition. Uniting the defense industrial capabilities of European countries is a significant contribution to achieving a just and lasting peace," he commented.
Zelenskyy met with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the anniversary of the Prague Uprising. According to Zelenskyy, this anniversary proves that human dignity always triumphs over oppression.
The Ukrainian president informed the Czech Prime Minister about Ukraine’s actions on the battlefield.
"Russia refuses to engage in a real ceasefire, and therefore sanctions for the war must remain in place and be continuously strengthened," Zelenskyy stressed.
The politicians discussed cooperation at the European and Euro-Atlantic levels, energy collaboration, the development of nuclear generation, and joint infrastructure projects.
"Everything with potential is important to implement. We highly value the Czech Republic's assistance in restoring our medical institutions and supporting our veterans," Zelenskyy noted.
He also highlighted the efforts of the Czech government regarding the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic. According to Zelenskyy, the opening of a Ukrainian hub in Prague is being prepared—a center for Ukrainian national life in the Czech Republic and a hub for strengthening ties between Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
