According to the outlet, this means Zelenskyy and Trump may meet on June 24 during the NATO summit in The Hague.
The final communiqué of this year’s NATO summit may differ significantly from previous ones—it is expected to be much more concise and, according to diplomats involved in its preparation, will fit on a single page. Media reports suggest that Ukraine may not be mentioned in the text, while Russia will once again be recognized as a long-term threat to the Alliance.
Diplomats emphasize that the document is still being edited, so the final wording could change.
Allies are expected to commit to increasing defense spending to 5% of GDP with a deadline set for 2032. However, the decision may be reviewed as early as 2029, after the end of the current term of U.S. President Donald Trump, who supports such expenditures.
Zelenskyy is not expected to participate in the main summit session or in the NATO–Ukraine Council meeting at the leaders’ level. The president is scheduled to speak at the Defense Industries Forum, which will be held as part of the summit in The Hague on June 24–25.
On June 17, Trump left the G7 summit early and did not meet with President Zelenskyy.
