The press service of Ukraine’s National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom reported the information.

“Today, September 23, 2025, at 4:56 p.m., the last power line through which the Zaporizhzhia NPP received electricity from the Ukrainian grid was disconnected,” the statement said.

Energoatom explained that the plant switched to diesel generators to meet its own power needs, a serious violation of normal operating conditions that increases the risk of an accident.

“The ZNPP being under illegitimate management poses a threat to the nuclear and radiation safety of Europe’s largest nuclear facility. Their irresponsible actions could have catastrophic consequences for the entire world,” Energoatom emphasized.

  • On September 19, the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency adopted a resolution titled “Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards in Ukraine”, urging Russia to immediately de-occupy and demilitarize the Zaporizhzhia NPP and return it to full Ukrainian control.
