War in Ukraine could end in 2–3 months if EU tightens sanctions on Russian oil buyers — Bessent
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Russia’s war against Ukraine will end in 60–90 days if Europe imposes strengthened secondary sanctions on Russian oil buyers
Reuters reported the information.
"I guarantee you that if Europe put on substantial secondary tariffs on the buyers of Russian oil, the war would be over in 60 or 90 days" because it would cut off Moscow's main revenue source, Bessent said.
He also noted that Washington will not impose additional tariffs on China to prevent it from buying Russian oil, provided the EU does not impose its own tariffs on Beijing, as well as on India.
"We expect the Europeans to do their share now, and we are not moving forward without the Europeans," emphasized the U.S. Treasury Secretary.
Bessent added that the Trump administration would be willing to cooperate with European countries on tougher sanctions against Russian entities, including the companies Rosneft and Lukoil.
