Victorious news of 831st day of war: Ukrainian army destroys Russian radar, Netherlands allows Ukraine to use F-16s to strike Russian targets
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to use F-16 fighter jets to strike at Russian territory, Ukrainian special forces have destroyed a powerful Russian radar station, and border guards have destroyed enemy surveillance systems
Netherlands allows Ukraine to use F-16s for strikes against Russia
The Netherlands has authorized Ukraine to use F-16s for strikes on Russian territory. Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can launch fighter strikes against Russia.
Ollongren emphasized that the Netherlands would not impose any restrictions on Ukraine's use of future F-16s, unlike Belgium. Previously, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo had warned Ukraine against using the fighter jets from his country in Russian airspace.
“There are no Belgian-style restrictions. We are applying the same principle we’ve used for all other military deliveries: once we hand it over to Ukraine, it’s theirs to use," Kajsa Ollongren said.
However, she stressed that Amsterdam expects Kyiv to comply with international law and the right to self-defense, as stated in the UN Charter.
This means Ukraine will use the F-16s to target military objectives necessary for its self-defense.
Permission to strike Russia will help protect Kharkiv
Air defence and the ability to strike at Russian territory will allow Ukraine to defend Kharkiv. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts assert that by providing air defense systems and removing restrictions on strikes on Russian territory using Western weapons, Ukraine can effectively safeguard Kharkiv and its surrounding areas. ISW maintains that these elements remain vital in preventing Russian assaults on Kharkiv.
It's highlighted that several Western countries have recently eased restrictions, either partially or entirely, on Ukraine's use of Western-supplied weaponry for targeting military assets in Russia. Analysts have underscored that such political shifts will enable Ukrainian forces to utilize Western-supplied systems to target Russian firing positions and strongholds along the border and within Russian airspace.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces target a powerful Russian radar
During aerial reconnaissance in a designated operational zone, Ukrainian Air Force operators located a Russian Kasta-2E2 mobile radar. Regarded as a cutting-edge weapon, this radar system is designed to monitor airspace, determine coordinates, and identify air targets, including those flying at very low altitudes. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have labeled the Kasta radar as a "high-value target."
The Kasta radar system was initially identified on Ukrainian territory in 2021 in the occupied Luhansk region. At that time, the Russians deployed equipment to counterattack UAVs.
"Interestingly, our operators recently targeted the enemy's radar system with one of the latest developments that have been incorporated into the Ukrainian Armed Forces," stated the Ukrainian Armed Forces Command.
Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy the "eyes of the Russian forces”
The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed two surveillance systems on Russian territory near Sumy region. The enemy's Murom-P long-range visual surveillance systems were hit by Ukrainian border guards' FPV drones, and the video was released by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Using Murom-P, the enemy tried to control the situation on the border area of Sumy region and was preparing to shell it.
