U.S. holds off on new military aid to Ukraine as Trump seeks end to war — U.S. envoy
The U.S. has not yet approved decisions regarding future aid to Kyiv, as American leader Donald Trump is interested in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine
U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated this, according to Radio Liberty.
According to him, Washington has not yet decided whether to supply Ukraine with weapons in the future or not, because Trump is interested in ending the war.
"The United States remains focused on preserving President Trump's ability to end hostilities (in Ukraine - ed.). Therefore, no decisions on future assistance (to Ukraine - ed.) have yet been approved," Whitaker said.
The diplomat added that the United States is counting on the EU to provide Ukraine with "the resources and political capital necessary to achieve a lasting peace."
At the same time, sources in NATO diplomatic circles told Radio Liberty that Kyiv is currently receiving military assistance from the Americans, which was agreed upon under the Biden administration. Intelligence sharing and Starlink systems are also ongoing.
Members of the Coalition of the Willing - the UK and France - are actively developing a strategy in case the United States ceases its support for Ukraine.
