
U.S. State Department approves $310.5 million F-16 training, support package for Ukraine
On May 2, the U.S. State Department approved a potential sale to Ukraine of training, maintenance services, and equipment for F-16 fighter jets worth about $310.5 million under the Foreign Military Sales program
The U.S. Department of Defense's Office of Military Cooperation said in a statement.
The U.S. State Department has approved a possible sale to Ukraine of training, technical support, and equipment for F-16 aircraft under the Foreign Military Sales program.
Ukraine requested $310.5 million worth of equipment and services from the U.S. to support its F-16s, including upgrades, training, spare parts, ground equipment, software, documentation, research, as well as technical and logistical support from the U.S. and contractors.
The statement noted that, as of now, the U.S. government is not aware of any offset agreements related to the potential sale. Any such agreements would be determined during negotiations between the buyer and the contractor. It was also indicated that implementing the proposed sale would not require sending additional U.S. government or contractor personnel to Ukraine.
- On April 8, it became known that Belgium plans to provide Ukraine with two F-16 fighter jets for spare parts by the end of this year, and two more aircraft next year.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the goal of Ukraine’s missile program is to accelerate the development of ballistic missiles as much as possible.
