The U.S. and Ukraine will engage in another round of negotiations following the conclusion of the U.S.-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia
The U.S. and Ukrainian delegations will engage in another round of negotiations following the conclusion of the U.S.-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia, sources familiar with the discussions told Suspilne.
According to one source, today’s U.S.-Russia talks will focus on prior agreements coordinated with Ukraine regarding a potential ceasefire. Key topics include halting strikes on energy infrastructure and civilian targets, as well as ending attacks in the Black Sea. While Ukraine hopes the U.S. delegation can secure preliminary constructive agreements with Russia, expectations remain cautious.
On March 24, U.S. and Russian delegations convened in Saudi Arabia for closed-door talks. According to a Suspilne correspondent in Riyadh, journalists were asked to leave The Ritz-Carlton hotel, where the negotiations are taking place.
The U.S. delegation includes Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning at the State Department, aides to Special Representative Keith Kellogg, and representatives from the National Security Advisor’s office. The Russian side is represented by Senator Grigory Karasin and Sergey Beseda, an advisor to the FSB director.
- A day earlier, on March 23, Ukrainian and U.S. delegations met in Riyadh to discuss the security of energy and infrastructure facilities. Following the talks, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov described the discussions as "productive and focused." The Ukrainian delegation also included Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, alongside other diplomatic and military representatives.
