Ukrainian weaponry advancements could lead to Crimea's blockade — Ukrainian serviceman
Ukrainian serviceman Ihor Lutsenko noted that drones are now creating a 15–20 km-wide “gray zone,” making it deadly for troops on both sides. He added that the land corridor Russian forces broke through in southern Ukraine will become increasingly narrow and risky for them as this gray zone continues to expand
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"In Russia, along with a defense plan for Crimea, they are also developing a plan to attack the right bank of the Dnipro River," said the Ukrainian serviceman. "As usual in the military, several scenarios are being prepared. But it's important to understand one of today’s global trends: our war is shaping the world’s future, and the 'gray zone' is expanding. This is a deadly area where neither Russian nor Ukrainian troops can survive. Drones kill everything there, and the zone now stretches about 15–20 kilometers."
He said that the land corridor Russia painfully secured — the only real success of its so-called "special military operation" — will eventually lose its value. As the "gray zone" keeps expanding, the corridor will become increasingly narrow, cramped, and dangerous to use.
"Everything is heading in that direction. If we don’t slack off, Crimea, thanks to the progress of our weaponry, will be blocked. And once the Crimean Bridge is gone, Crimea will become an island for the occupiers," summed up Ihor Lutsenko.
- On May 12, Colonel Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, said that the density of deployed air defense systems in the temporarily occupied Crimea is higher than in some Russian regions, as the peninsula is logistically valuable to Moscow.
