Zelenskyy: Ukrainian forces liberate 6 of 18 occupied villages, key positions in Sumy region
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that in the Sumy region, Ukrainian forces have liberated 6 of 18 occupied villages or key points, and in two locations have reached the border with Russia

He said this while speaking with journalists on August 12, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Sumy region. We had 18 points there, occupied villages or key locations. Six have been liberated, so we are advancing. This is good news. In two locations, we have reached the border with the Russian Federation. I think the situation there is more or less positive. This morning, Apostol and Syrskyi reported to me," Zelenskyy said.
He added that Ukrainian forces have cleared another 900 meters in Sumy region near several border settlements.
In addition, according to the president, the Defense Forces are holding their positions in Zaporizhzhia region and have advanced one kilometer into Russian positions in Luhansk region.
- On August 10, Ukrainian troops liberated the village of Bezsalivka in Sumy region. As of August 11, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Ukraine’s defenders have achieved gains in the Sumy direction.
