Ukrainian police evacuate family from Sumy border region amid Russian drone threat
The police special unit White Angel evacuated a 12-year-old girl, Yevheniya, along with her mother and grandmother from Krasnopillia, Sumy region. The evacuation was difficult due to the constant threat of Russian drone strikes
The National Police press service reported the information.
"Yevheniya is only 12, but the girl has already learned to distinguish the sounds of explosions. It's hard to imagine that in the modern world, one would need such skills, but these are the realities of life for children on the frontlines. The girl's mother is 32, and her childhood was spent in her parents' home, so this place holds special memories for her. Svitlana, the grandmother, is 63, and she has spent her entire life here. The home they built together with her husband for a happy family life had to be left behind. It was an incredibly difficult decision, but the women understood that their lives and Yevheniya's happy childhood were the most precious things," said the law enforcement officers.
They emphasized that the evacuation route was especially dangerous: drones were flying around, capable of striking at any moment. Despite the constant threat, the White Angels carried out the rescue operation and provided psychological support to the women.
- All children were evacuated from the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Additionally, 20 minors were evacuated from the Komarska and Kryvorizka communities, where forced evacuation of families with children was recently declared.
