This was announced by Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops.
"After months of confrontation, the command decided to withdraw from the Zenit position near Avdiivka. We maintained this position to effectively deter and eliminate the enemy," he stated.
Tarnavskyi clarified that the decision aims to "safeguard personnel and enhance the operational situation." He stressed that the Russians wouldn't gain a strategic advantage by occupying these positions, and it wouldn't impact the ongoing Avdiivka defense operation.
"Currently, troop regrouping, resupply efforts, and deployment in new positions are underway. There's a planned reinforcement of units," Tarnavskyi added.
- On February 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the situation at the front, specifically in Avdiivka and the eastern region. He underscored the ongoing efforts in Avdiivka to preserve as many Ukrainian lives as possible.
- Subsequently, Oleksandr Borodin, the press officer for the redeployed 3rd Assault Brigade, reported a critical situation in Avdiivka. The enemy is now using phosphorous ammunition and guided aerial bombs regularly. According to Rodion Kudryashov, the deputy commander of the 3rd brigade, fighters in one Avdiivka area find themselves entirely surrounded by the enemy.
