Ukrainian military intelligence cyber specialists target Belgorod regional authorities and internet providers
Cyber specialists from Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence, Ministry of Defense, are attacking Internet providers in the Belgorod region and the websites of local authorities, including the regional center's government
According to sources in the special service, Suspilne reports that the attack has disrupted the Internet networks serving local government and military institutions.
As of May 13, Main Directorate of Intelligence has disabled the primary Internet provider Luchshe.Net and the websites of the local government, the Belgorod regional portal for state and municipal services, Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Belhorod, the Ministry of Finance, and budget policy.
Social media users in the Belgorod region have reported problems accessing the Internet, non-functional mobile data, and difficulty reaching support services of the affected providers.
Providers have described the situation as an "emergency," with access to foreign web resources being forcibly terminated.
According to sources at Suspilny, the DDoS attack on Russian services is ongoing.
- On May 7, cyber specialists from Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate disabled online services of the Russian company 1C, which develops and supports business database management software.
