Ukrainian MiG-29 intercepts, destroys Russian Shahed drone
A pilot with a Ukrainian tactical aviation brigade Denfix, has taken down another Russian drone—adding to his tally of over two dozen cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed in combat
The successful strike was reported by the Air Command West of Ukraine’s Air Force. According to the command, all available resources are being used to counter Russian attacks: anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire teams, and electronic warfare systems. When necessary, fighter jets are scrambled to intercept airborne threats.
The pilot said that Russian forces typically launch Shahed drones at night, but this particular attack occurred in the early morning—making it easier to spot and destroy the target in daylight.
"Unlike during night missions, I could clearly see the target through my sights," the pilot said. "After the explosion, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction—knowing I had done the right thing and watched that Russian drone get destroyed before it could reach its target or do any damage on our land."
- Iranian-made Shahed-136 'kamikaze' drones, whose production has been localized in Russia, have become one of the most widely used tools of terror.
