Ukrainian government delegation arrives in Saudi Arabia to prepare for Zelenskyy's visit
A Ukrainian government delegation has arrived in Saudi Arabia. Dozens of meetings are scheduled this week in preparation for the upcoming visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
This was reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, on Facebook.
According to her, the working visit of the Ukrainian delegation began with a meeting with nearly a hundred local entrepreneurs, during which projects in energy, agriculture, and infrastructure were presented. Additionally, the Ukrainian team presented large-scale projects in the field of public-private partnerships and privatization opportunities, amounting to investments totaling half a billion dollars.
"In the next few days, we will have dozens of meetings to prepare for the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Saudi Arabia. We are also preparing to sign important economic agreements with countries in the region," Svyrydenko added.
Svyrydenko also noted that Saudi Arabia is actively supporting Ukraine. The country has already directed $500 million to support Ukraine's reconstruction. "I am confident that we have prospects for even more active engagement of investments from the Middle East. Today, we saw significant interest, especially in infrastructure projects, energy, innovation proposals, agribusiness, particularly in fertilizer production, where Saudi Arabia has expertise," emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
She also pointed out that exports to Saudi Arabia grew from $291 million in 2023 to $368 million in 2024.
"And we expect growth this year as well. We haven't yet reached pre-war levels, but I hope we can achieve that, and such business forums will contribute to this," Svyrydenko concluded.
