The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported the information.

"Strikes by attack UAVs on the refinery's territory were confirmed, followed by a fire," the General Staff noted.

The annual processing capacity of this facility ranges from 7 to 8.9 million tons of oil.

"It should be noted that the Syzran oil refinery is part of the Russian Federation's energy rear and is involved in supplying the aggressor's armed forces. The extent of the damage inflicted is being clarified," the General Staff added.

Other Russian targets struck by Ukraine's Defense Forces

In addition to the Syzran refinery, the Defense Forces successfully struck a storage and maintenance facility for unmanned boats in the area of Chornomorske (temporarily occupied territory of Crimea), a repair unit of the 1435th Motorized Rifle Regiment near the settlement of Antratsyt (temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region), a pontoon crossing near Nikonorivka, and a storage facility for Shahed-type UAVs in Makiivka in the Donetsk region.

"Enemy losses are being clarified," the General Staff added.

Additionally, the results of the recent strike on the LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil products processing plant in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation have been confirmed. There, an oil products pipeline and a technological unit for oil production were damaged.

What preceded this?

Previously, local Telegram channels reported that the UAV Systems Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation on the night of December 28. It was noted that strikes were carried out on two energy facilities in the city.

Specifically, UAVs hit the ELOU-AVT-6 primary oil processing unit — a comprehensive primary oil processing system designed for oil preparation, desalination, and separation into various fractions before further deep processing.

The Syzran refinery has only one such unit, so in the event of serious damage, a complete shutdown of the facility's production is possible.

The main product of the refinery is diesel fuel for the domestic market of the Russian Federation, including for supplying invading forces in Ukraine.
