The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on February 9.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Russia launched 49 airstrikes and 52 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Over the last day, 91 combat engagements took place. The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 30 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, where the Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 8 attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, Terny and Yampolivka in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 attacks in the vicinity of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 17 attacks near Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka and another 10 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Over 15 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the area of Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. About 5 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks south of Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region and north of Pryiutne in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian army repelled two Russian attacks west of Novopokrovka and near Robotyne. About 30 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, four unsuccessful attempts to storm the Ukrainian positions were made during the day. About 10 localities were subjected to numerous attacks by the invading Russian forces.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 5 Russian military positions.

The missile troops struck 2 manpower concentration areas, 2 control points, and 2 munitions depots.

  • There were 65 combat engagements at the front over the last day. Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in 7 sectors and killed 910 soldiers.
